The best way to pay is to book online and manage your payments through your learner portal. You can also call our team and make card payments over the phone. You can make savings by paying for your lessons in blocks.
You can drive a car when you are 16 if you get, or have applied for the enhanced rate of the mobility component of personal independence payment (PIP). Otherwise, you must be 17 years of age. You can apply for your provisional before your 17th Birthday and you can always start to prepare for your theory test.
The best way to check out our instructors is either by looking at our reviews on Facebook, Google or Trust Pilot.
We have a range of modern cars which all come with dual controls for your peace of mind and safety. If you ever want to request a car to learn in feel free to ask our office and we will try to accommodate.
There are several theory test centers across the UK. Your Smartlearner instructor or our support team will be able to advise you of your nearest center.
The beginner package is a specialised package for learners with no prior experience. The package covers 3 hours on the first 2 lessons. This is split into 2 x 1.5-hour sessions. The other 2 hours are then held by the instructor until you are ready for the practical test. These 2 hours cover 1 hour before the test and 1 hour in which you rent the car from the instructor to take the test.
No, and in fact it may be better to learn the theory whilst having practical lessons. However, you will need to pass the theory test before applying for the practical test.
Yes, we do offer intensive driving courses. These courses are always above 6 hours of driving lessons per week. Although, most learners opt to do 10+ hours per week.
However, you must of passed your theory test before booking an intensive course. This is to ensure you can get a test date.
The number of lessons required varies from student to student and is dependent on many factors, such as availability, past experience and your unique learning style. However, the DVSA have recommended that an average learner will need 40 hours of driving lessons.
Your instructor will monitor your progress using our ‘Reflective Log’ and this will help you to keep track of your own learning.
Firstly, for most people you need to be at least 17 years of age. You will also be required to have a provisional license. You can apply for this through the DVLA online application or by getting an application form from your local post office.
You should also practice your theory while you wait for your provisional to arrive. If you want information on how we can offer theory support call us on 0800 118 2001.
Note: It is also worth having an eyesight check to ensure you can read a standard car number plate at 20.5 metres.
Driving lessons vary in cost depending on your area and the transmission you choose. You can find our the exact price in your area by using our postal code checker or calling our office on 0800 118 2001.
Continuity of driving lessons is important! Try not to take long breaks as this can really affect your progress and make it cost much more in the long run. At Smartlearner we recommend that you have between 2 and 4 hours per week.
This will help you stay motivated, pass faster and if your paying in block can save you lots of money!
At SmartLearner we always offer block bookings at a discounted rate. This applies to blocks of 5, 10 and 20 hours in both manual and automatic.
We also sometimes also offer seasonal discounts. The best way to see what we are offering at the moment is by calling our office on 0800 118 2001.
